Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare patients for neurodiagnostic testing by explaining the procedure. Obtain medical history information pertinent
to the interpretation of test results. Apply the 10/20 system to measure head and place electrodes to predetermined,
measured locations on the patient's head or other parts of the body.
• Operate specialized equipment with measures and record electrical activity of the brain and nervous system.
Implement alternative methods; adjust controls obtaining optimal recording.
• Perform recording of electroencephalography (EEG), evoked potential (EP), epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU), and nerve
conduction study (NCS), and assist Neurologists in EMU and in invasive diagnostic procedures such as Intraoperative
Neurophysiological Monitoring (IOM) and Electrocorticography (ECoG).
• Provide care and assistance to patients during procedures, paying attention to patients’ pacemakers and defibrillators.
Take appropriate precautions to ensure electrical safety.
• Prepare preliminary technical analysis and description of traces ensuring its acceptability; note and prepare pertinent
data for interpretation by the interpreting neurologist.
• Facilitate communication among health care professionals as might be required.
• Ensure a safe operation of equipment by maintaining and keeping it clean; disinfected; conduct maintenance and
adjustments and inform immediate supervisor if further repairs are needed. Recognize computer software problems
and liaise with appropriate department to resolve system issues.
• Maintain safe and efficient working area and equipment and ensure adequate levels of stock and supplies.
• Assess clinical results, patient services and departmental processes determining the means of improving patient service
and methods to increase efficiency; participate in the development and revision of program standards, policies and
procedures.
• Adhere to ethical work standards ensuring responsibility and full confidentiality.
• Implement all prescribed safety procedures. Conform to all laboratory policies and procedures, accrediting standards,
and guidelines on universal precautions and hospital regulations.

• Perform other job-related duties.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Bachelor Degree in Neurodiagnostic Technology, Neurophysiology or related discipline from an
accredited institution – Essential
Specializations in the following Neurodiagnostic procedures – Essential
• Electroencephalography (EEG) • Nerve Conduction Studies (NCS)
• Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) • Evoked Potentials (EP)
Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
Work Experience: Minimum of 1 (one) year’s position-related experience in similar setting/environment – Essential
