Job Description
• Develop and implement radiation safety measures, plans and protection devices to comply with government
regulations and ensure the safety of patients and personnel. Review proposals and protocols for projects/
activities involving the use of ionizing radiation within the MNGHA. Collaborate with international regulatory
agencies on matters pertaining to radiation protection standards, guidelines and projects. Periodically update
the Radiation Safety Manual.
• Execute the policies and procedures established by the Radiation Safety Committee (RSC); report any radiation
hazards or serious infractions of policies to RSC; maintain liaison with the Hospital Safety Committee.
• Monitor equipment by assessing and correcting the radiation level performance. Maintain records of
radiological and environmental conditions. Ensure that all radiation activities are performed in compliance with
applicable regulatory standards for protection against ionizing and MNGHA policies and procedures. Ensure
that the basic principles of health and safety are adhered to comply with the relevant regulations and standards.
• Provide recommendations on matters pertaining to optimization of radiation protection standards and
requirements; changes in radiation safety procedures potentially important to safety; waste disposal program
of radioactive materials, its development and implementation; safe management of by-products; testing of
workplaces for environmental hazards, etc.
• Perform periodic audits to determine if established programs are maintained and still adequate for current
needs. Recommend corrective/ remedial actions on deviations from the approved radiation safety practice or
policies embodied in the Radiation Safety Manual or those that may warrant the revocation, suspension or
cancellation of the authorization. Maintain comprehensive documentation on the use and misuse of
radionuclides, providing comprehensive investigation findings and recommendations.
• Develop and review radiological work documents and interpret radiological data. Undertake dose assessment
of patients and monitor occupationally exposed personnel, when necessary.
• Develop, organize and execute training programs/ seminars to provide awareness and ensure compliance for
all applicable regulations.
• Maintain all required records and documentation. Prepare and present reports and correspondence, as
required.

Education
Master Degree in related field – Preferred
Radiation Safety Officer licensure or equivalent from the regulatory body within the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Essential
Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential .
Work Experience
For Bachelor degree holder:
Minimum of 9 (nine) years’ postgraduate position-related practical experience in similar
setting/comparable healthcare facility – Essential
For Master degree holder:
Minimum of 5 (five) years’ postgraduate position-related practical experience in similar
setting/comparable healthcare facility – Essential
