STAFF PHYSICIAN NEONATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNIT

Principle Duties :

1.        To participate in Patient Care for patients admitted to Hospital under the Division of Neonatology. He/She may also be required to cover the day-to-day duties of the team’s Senior Resident when their coverage is deficient for whatever reason. This includes covering the labor and Delivery Suit and wards.

   2.     Demonstrate a strong commitment in applying person center care principles and exhibit excellent communication skills, fostering positive relationships with patients and their families.

   3.     To participate in on-call coverage for the various units of the Division (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Care Nursery, and Admission Nursery) in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Division of Neonatology and the Department of Pediatrics, accepting the inconveniences associated with patients’ needs during the On-Call coverage and discussing patient management with the supervisor on duty.

   4.    To provide consultation services to other divisions within the Department and other departments within the organization during the regular work and on-call hour according to Department’s policies and procedures and discuss the management with Neonatology Consultant on Duty.

   5.      Attend newborn deliveries as well as neonatal emergencies.

   6.      He/She should (under supervision of the Neonatology Consultant on Duty):

   a.     Assess and make treatment plans for patients admitted to the Division of Neonatology

   b.     Write orders for Total Parental Nutrition (TPN)

   c.     Write admission, progress, discharge notes and any other documentation related to the patients he/she has cared

   d.     Show competency in and perform all neonatal emergency procedures.

   7.    To actively participate in the quality improvement program of the department of Pediatrics.

   8.    To Take full responsibility of the Division’s and hospital’s administrative takes that assigned. This may include division or hospital standing and ad-hoc committees or representation of the Division on committees and/or activities outside the hospital.

   9.     To participate in scientific research and contribute to the department's educational activities and postgraduate training programs as per the Department's Policies and Procedures.

   10. To regularly participate in educational activities in order to acquire new skills and knowledge and to support career advancements.

   11. To advocate for the health needs and well-being of children and their families.

   12. To adhere to all the rules and regulations of the Division of Neonatology, Department of Pediatrics, and the organization. Assistant Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the APPs and DPPs.

   13. To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Head of the Division of Neonatology or the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics.

   14. To comply with all professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff By-Laws of the organization.

Education:

MBBS or equivalent. Saudi Board of Pediatrics or equivalent. Successful completion of a structured accredited Pediatrics residency training program or 1 year Pediatrics experience in an appropriate health care facility acceptable to NGHA.

Work Experience:

2 years of Neonatology experience in a Level 2–3 Unit.

English Language Skills: Must Arabic Language Skills: Preferred Computer Skills: Level
