Job Description
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct day-to-day anti-doping laboratory procedures including routine analysis samples such as chain of custody, sample preparation, instrumental analysis, data evaluation, confirmatory procedures and analytical batches certifications. Ensure utilization of established laboratory techniques on both manual and automated equipment. Create laboratory documentation packages, as needed.
- Ensure availability, preparation and optimal utilization of resources such as laboratory materials, solutions, reagents, consumables and other laboratory supplies; monitor, implement and document quality control procedures and preventive maintenance; operate and calibrate laboratory equipment; troubleshoot instrument malfunctions; report faults and problems through the appropriate channels; ensure safe, clean and efficient working systems/area.
- Analyzed laboratory computer applications to manage and validate data. Ensure laboratory results and findings are accurately logged. Identify technical, instrumental and/or physiological causes of unexpected test results. Continuously conduct research and review on antidoping related laboratory services for updates and compliance to regulations. Participate in developing new analytical techniques, identify new laboratory programs, coordinate laboratory projects, as assigned and securing fund for the research programs from local and foreign sources.
- Provide the needed details regarding sample matrices, detection limits requirement, sample turnaround time, resources, etc. Review literature for similar work and provide guidance in the formulation of method development strategy. Provide technical expertise and hands-on guidance to team members and post graduate students. Coordinate with the Quality Improvement staff to ensure all quality, preventive and risk control procedures are followed comprehensively and the reported laboratory results are accurate and reliable.
- Provide assistance to immediate superior, if required, by monitoring team areas work performance; supporting and guiding team members in making laboratory related decisions and ensuring implementation of departmental guidelines; developing guidelines, procedures and methodologies; maintaining and evaluating databases, equipment/new equipment within the Anti-Doping Laboratory Services. Ensure clients confidentiality at all times.
- Participate in educational and professional growth activities related to the assigned area including teaching, training verification, competency testing and continuing medical education activities. Advise immediate superior of any recommendations and improvements in clinical practice, workflow, and processes within the Anti-Doping Services in line with the accreditation requirements, relevant standards and government regulations.
- Perform all relevant duties in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), Joint Commission of International Accreditation (JCIA), College of American Pathologists (CAP), American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), program’s policies including laboratory and safety standards.
- Prepare and submit various types of laboratory reports and other necessary correspondence.
- Perform other job-related duties.
